Minimum Age: 10 Year(s)
Imagine gliding through a frozen forest on a pair of skis with the winter sun shining on your face. Placing one ski before the other, you glide through the snowy tracks in a flowing motion. Apart from your guide, it’s only you, the track, and the winter forest around you.
Cross-country skiing is a wonderfully enjoyable way to explore the Swedish outdoors and fulfill that desire for some activity!
For this full day, 8-hour adventure, the experts from The Green Trail will pick you up from the Meeting Point (click) in central Stockholm and together, in their vehicle, head out of town to enjoy this excursion. Spend the first half of the day learning how to cross-country ski before breaking for a campfire lunch. After this, set off down a trail that is adequate to the skill level of the group and find yourself gliding through a white forest. Stop for a break of coffee and cake to catch your breath before completing the trail and heading back to the city.
Leave the hectic city behind and enjoy the peacefulness of the gorgeous outdoors.
Have to be in decent physical shape to learn to cross-country ski and manage the outdoor weather.
This 8-hour trip follows the below itinerary:
• Even if there is no snow in the city, your expert guide knows where to find it in most cases. The expert team will meet you at 10 AM at the Meeting Point (click) in the city. After a short explanation about the day’s program, head for Stockholm’s best skiing tracks and receive all required equipment.
• During this cross-country skiing adventure, you will glide through beautiful snow covered landscapes with other enthusiasts from all over the world. It is a real winter wonder land!
• On arrival, begin with an introduction to the equipment and the basics on how to cross-country ski. Trials take place on a frozen lake where it is easier to practice as it is flat (no ups and downs) and there is ample room to get used to the technique. The practice session takes about half a day until lunch. After a campfire lunch and when everyone feels confident on their skis, set out for the mission of that day: a skiing track through the forest (different length trails depending on the group’s skill level). Find yourself cruising down the tracks while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery Stockholm has to offer.
• After skiing halfway, the group breaks to have some coffee and cake while everyone catches their breath. Refreshed and re-energized, finish the track! Tired but satisfied, climb on board the vehicle and head back to the Meeting Point to conclude the tour.
