India has so many rich cultural sights to see, delicious food to eat, and activities to partake in. Why not try something unique when you’re in New Delhi?
Polo has a long history in India and its long-lasting appeal shows in that it’s been adapted into a bicycle version and now a Segway game! Segway polo is very similar to horse polo, except that instead of playing on horseback, each player rides a segway PT on the field. In fact, it’s much easier for those who don’t know how to ride a horse.
The rules have been adapted from bicycle polo and horse polo. Two teams of 3 players each hit a ball with their mallets, and try to get the ball into the other team's goal. The segway arrangement is played on a field that is 61 meters by 39 meters, while the goal is 2.4 meters wide and 1.5 meters tall. An arrangement match consists of four 8 minute quarters, which in the world of polo is called: “chukkers.” The ball can be hit with the mallet or any part of a player’s body or segway but may only be directed using the mallet.
