Your 4-hour journey takes you on a voyage of exploration through the mangroves of Langkawi, to discover exotic plants and animal species. Many of them survive by ingenious methods in a dynamic environment of constant change, dictated by the rise and fall of the tides.
Following a short drive to the jetty, get on board a boat and explore the mangrove forests and ancient limestone outcrops of the northeast of the island.
Mangrove forests play an essential part in maintaining the ecological balance of the world. They influence the climate, provide shelter, and act as major nurseries for fish and shrimps.
As you drift through the mangroves, look out for the bizarre land walking fishes. Watch out too for bright flashing kingfishers, and look up to see eagles and kites. If you are very lucky, you might see curious otters and playful dolphins.
And don’t forget the little critters; however creepy and crawly they might seem, they are all playing a vital role in this unique environment!
The tour will start the Mangrove Safari Tour at Kilim Jetty where the guests will be taken on a boat ride through the mangrove in Kilim river. The fist stop of the tour would be the Bat Cave where over there the guests will be given an introduction about the mangrove; what it is, what its benefit to humans etc. Also, the history of the limestone formation around that area will be told to the guests. then they will be taken into the cave to see the bats that would be hanging above of their head.
After that, the guests will go back into the boat to be taken to the second stop, which would be the fish farm. at the fish farm, they can see fishes like grouper, trevally, barramundi, coral fishes being fed by staff in charge. Also, they can try to hand feed the stingrap themselves at that fish farm.
The third stop would be the Crocodile Cave. unlike the bat cave, crocodile cave is a half submerge under the sea water, thus enable the
boat to go pass through it during low tide.
Then the guests will pass through a man-made canal in Tanjung Rhu Mangrove. Inside Tanjung Rhu, there will be a large group of macaques where the guests can see them in near distance. The eagle watching also will be done in Tanjung Rhu mangrove right after the Macaque watching.
The guests will be having their lunch at another different fish farm in Tanjung Rhu. The lunch is included, but they guests are free to add
an extra meal such as lobster, prawns or other fishes in their own expanse.
Later on, the boat will go out to the Andaman Sea from Tanjung Rhu. Here there's a small chance that they might see dolphin emerge to the sea surface to take a breath. Upon request, along the level of tide, weather etc, then its possible to have a stop at the beach to give the guests a chance to take a dip at the wild beach of Pasir Panjang.
The last stop would be the infamous Kilim Geoforest Park giant signage where can be the proof of the guests that they've been at Kilim before they will be taken back to Kilim Jetty, the exact same point where they started and thus the transport will be awaiting them at the jetty to take them back to their respective hotel around 3pm.
