Looking for an exciting safari experience? Try a hot air balloon safari in one of South Africa's most underrated national parks, Pilanesberg! And for those who need more of the comforts of home, Pilanesberg chalets are just the ticket. With air conditioning, a private patio, electricity, a fridge and television, your satisfaction is guaranteed.
Pilanesberg National Park is the result of a long extinct volcano. The crater, which houses the park, is millions of years old and is unique in its makeup. Because of it's location and formation a wide variety of vegetation developed.
There is a wide range of birds and animal species to which it now calls home. Apart from the BIG5, you can also find cheetah, giraffe, hippo, hyena, jackal and a different number of antelope and bird species.
We depart Johannesburg (Pretoria) at 07:30 for the park. The drive is a mere 2.5 hours, and on arrival, we take 30 minutes to settle into the chalet before we go hunting for the big 5! Lunch will be at a picnic spot within the park. We can relax but still enjoy the peacefulness of nature around us. We'll return to camp for a brief rest if the heat of the day is too much before departing for an afternoon drive once again. Dinner this evening will be at the restaurant.
The highlight of the tour starts this morning as we book you onto an early morning hot air balloon ride! What could be better than viewing wildlife while riding high among the clouds? The flight is approximately an hour and on landing, sparkling wine is served. A leisurely game drive is then taken through the park to the game lodge where breakfast is served, after which guests are returned to their chalet. We take some well-deserved rest time before a late afternoon game drive or visit the Sun City Resort. Dinner at the restaurant this evening and then lights out!
We like being flexible for our guests. An early morning game drive is ideal for day but if you prefer to sleep in we can arrange a mid-morning drive instead. We'll grab a well deserved mid-morning breakfast upon return to camp. We pack up and clear out of our chalet and say goodbye as we head back to Johannesburg. Before arriving back, we will pop in at one of the various craft markets en route, in case you want a few souvenirs. Tour ends.
